There are worse things he could learn...

I arrived home yesterday after work and picking up A & J at the sitter’s. Before he got out of his carseat, A made the sign of the cross (after telling me in great detail just how that sign is made), then proceeded to tell me that at preschool they always make the sign of the cross then say a prayer. Now, we had joked about him learning the Hail Mary ever since we decided to send him to the Catholic preschool. And as rather faithfully practicing Episcopalians, it doesn’t really bother us at all. After all, there certainly are worse things he could be learning at preschool. But I digress. A went on to start reciting the Hail Mary and only needed a few prompts from me (drawing on everything I learned in Catholic school...then realizing I only learned that prayer in French...). And there’s something to the way he says it. “Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with me. Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of my room, Jesus.” I was touched.
