Charming.

Yeah, charming my a**. We live in a “big” old house. I used to love it. Nine years and two kids ago, when closet space and a playroom didn’t matter. My current gripe? The bat that interrupted Dancing With The Stars that was already taped onto DVR because I had a meeting that ran way too long, right after I got home from driving all the way to northwest Columbus to have J evaluated for adenoidectomy...and, as it turns out, tubes in her ears as well. But I digress. I’m also griping about whatever the heck has been moving around inside the wall of our guest room that’s still all torn apart from moving my sewing machine upstairs and re-organizing the antiquated computer cords that haven’t been used in at least one child’s lifetime. I’m griping because there’s nowhere to put stuff, and even if there was someplace to put it, I’d have to find the time to put it there.

Real charming. I’m just sayin‘.

Yeah, I understand charming. Our first D.C. apartment was charming...wood floors, rounded doorways, pretty glass doorknobs, lovely built-in china cabinets. And NO storage space whatsoever! The bedroom closet was big enough for one person's stuff (maybe). The coat closet was too small for coats! "Charming" is really nice, but "charming AND well-designed for living" is even better!

What happened with the bat?

I'll be thinking of all of you, particularly J, this week. I'm so glad that your boss was so supportive and understanding. They should ALL be that way. Anyway, hope everything goes really smoothly. She'll be good as new in no time!

Love, JH :-)

The bat...

Well, D put on his "bat catching suit," which consists of a hooded sweatshirt, and caught the thing in a pillowcase. He's good at this sort of thing...we have had several bats during our tenure in this house.

J's back to her head-on-fire self. The day after surgery you'd never know that she had anything done. She's done amazingly well, and the surgery appears to have taken care of many of the problems she was having!

Enjoy your turkey!!
