Not that Anyone REALLY Wants to Hear About More Snow Days
...but here we are. This is day 11. But a much better snow day than the ones just past. I had some things I had to get done at school, so I braved the roads (HA! Not a lick of snow on them...), dropped the kids at the sitter, and went to work. Briefly. Seems that when school’s out for snow days, everyone takes them seriously and stays home. So I didn’t get everything done that I wanted to accomplish, but, well, there’s always next week. And I got the official year-end damage. We’re now up to a whole week longer than we were supposed to go in June because of these damn days off. So much for all my “neener, neener, neener...I’m done before Memorial Day” teasing.
We’re off for a birthday weekend away sans kids. Leaving tonight. Can’t wait. I’m also meeting one of my best friends from college while we’re there. Really can’t wait for that.
I guess I better go fold laundry. Or put it away. Or pack the suitcases. Or unpack the suitcases from the last weekend away. Or, perhaps, all of the above.

Wow, that many snow days, particularly when it sounds like the roads were okay...just crazy! Glad you were able to get some stuff done anyway. We only had two snowdays here, and by the afternoon of the second one I was stir-crazy. E and I took the bus to a coffee shop to do work just because we couldn't stand our apartment any more.
Happy (belated) birthday! :-)
Hello, guys! Yes, it was a fabulous weekend away (in your neck of the woods, teachermom!). We went to the Henry Ford Museum and stayed at the Ritz Carlton. Holy niceness!!
Yes, eleven snow days. My school year just - poof! - went from ending on May 29 to ending on June 8. Which, in itself, is a MAJOR bummer since the COW reunion starts on June 7. Guess we'll be a little late... guess I ought to get used to it... I'm holding out hope for some forgiveness days from the state, but I think I'm setting myself up for some disappointment...
We're busy around here making preparations for A's Valentine's Day party. We're hoping beyond hope that it will take place on Wednesday. Forecasts for this week are good...in the 40s, I guess. Although there are still folks around here without power. Where else but Appalachia?!
The COW Reunion is my 10-year college reunion at The College Of Wooster. It's all a mistake, really, because I seriously can't have graduated from college TEN WHOLE YEARS ago. Incidentally, Jessisca is one of my classmates.
Also incidentally, the COW made news (at least here in Ohio) this week when some students tried to fill the archway of the main classroom building with snow in hopes of causing school to be cancelled. It's a big tradition. But apparently it morphed into an event that involved police, tasers, and arrests...
Yikes, what happened with the Kauke arch? Sounds crazy!
We'll probably be late to the reunion, too, so you won't be alone. But I still hope you get the forgiveness days.
Glad you had such a nice birthday weekend!
Much love, JH
